Description: | ![]() The Belfast Philharmonic Choir, Youth and Chamber Choirs will perform Carl Orff's spectacular masterpiece Carmina Burana with special guests the North Belfast Youth Choir in Belfast Boys' Model School. The North Belfast Youth Choir is an inter-denominational choir and a powerful symbol of consensus and cooperation, bringing together young people from various post primary schools across North Belfast. Led by acclaimed choral director Dónal Doherty, the project was launched in August 2015 and provides a unique platform for young people to nurture and showcase their talents and attributes, whilst simultaneously raising aspirations, celebrating the diversity and energy of a shared community and projecting a positive image of the neighbourhoods in which the young people live. After Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, few choral works have become more famous in pop culture than Carmina Burana and the opening “O Fortuna” movement has become ubiquitous in commercials, films, and countless videos on social media. Conducted by James Grossmith, the choirs will be joined by the Belfast Philharmonic Accompanist Gail Evans, organist Tristan Russcher and a stellar line up of soloists. The concert will also feature pieces performed by the young singers and to hear more about the programme and artists involved, follow us on social media or sign up to our newsletter here. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
