Description: Come and Sing: Britten's Saint Nicolas

We are delighted to be presenting Britten's Saint Nicolas for our annual 'Come and Sing' as part of our 150th anniversary season!

We performed the piece in a virtual concert in 2020 and are excited to have the chance to sing it live especially as the Belfast Philharmonic Youth and Chamber Choirs will be involved for the first time. Singers of all ages* and experience levels are welcome to join to learn Britten's first professional work intended to be performed by amateur musicians.

Chorus Director James Grossmith and Youth Choirs Artistic Director Lynsey Callaghan will lead attendees through the choruses, supported by members of the Belfast Philharmonic Choirs and the Society’s Accompanist Gail Evans with Tristan Russcher on organ. Tenor and Vocal Coach, Ross Scanlon, who was our soloist in 2020, will bring to life again the real story of the Saint Nicolas and also coach the young singers.

The event will finish with a performance to the public at 4pm. This exciting day of music making is a great way to experience what it's like to sing with a large symphonic choir.

Please note - tickets for singers will include the loan of a Saint Nicolas score for the day which will be available for collection upon arrival and doors will open at 10am. Tickets will be available to book online until 8.30pm on Friday 24th January and a limited number will be available to purchase on the door.

*Singers under 16 need to accompanied by an adult
