with the Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra in venues in Poland and Ukraine.

POLAND

Friday 25th August, 7.30pm

Opole Cathedral

Sunday 27th August, 7.30pm

Christ The King Basilica, Katowice

Our 2nd Polish concert takes place in Katowice, by kind invitation of the Bishop of  the Silesian region.

Our opening concert takes place in the magnificent 15th century Opole Cathedral.

UKRAINE

Tuesday 29th August, 7pm

Lviv Philharmonic Hall

Our final concert takes place in the Philharmonic Hall, Lviv's professional concert hall and home to the Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra who have been touring with us.

The Phil, led by music director Stephen Doughty, is Northern Ireland's only symphonic choir and performs at least four concerts per year, many alongside the Ulster Orchestra.   This includes the traditional performances of Handel's Messiah which we have undertaken each Christmas since 1886!

At the end of the season there will another "first" for Belfast Philharmonic Choir - we are going on tour!  Keep in touch throughout the year to hear how preparations for our Polish Tour are going.

2016-17 is another special year in the musical life of Belfast.  The Ulster Orchestra is celebrating its 50th anniversary and The Phil are delighted to be singing alongside them at concerts throughout the year.  Happy birthday Ulster Orchestra!

…"Throughout the Philharmonic Choir is superb, with their rhythmic attack, precision of diction and varying dynamics …  They excel in crisp marcato and staccato phrases …  How refreshing to hear Handel sung with such variety of tone colour and dynamics…"
